Expanding Care in Eastern North Carolina: Liberty Home Care and Hospice Welcomes ECU Health Home Health and Hospice
We are thrilled to announce that effective November 1, 2026, ECU Health officially transitioned its home health and hospice services to Liberty Home Care and Hospice. Approved by the office of the North Carolina Attorney General, this agreement secures the long-term sustainability of compassionate home health, palliative and hospice care for families across eastern North Carolina.
The acquisition includes ECU Health’s home health services in Greenville, Kenansville, Washington and Windsor; hospice services in Ahoskie, Greenville and Kenansville; and Liberty Hospice House of Greenville, formerly known as The Service League of Greenville Hospice House.
ECU Health identified Liberty Health, a family-owned provider with a 150-year legacy of delivering comprehensive healthcare services across the Carolinas, as the ideal partner to maintain seamless continuity and elevate patient-centered care. Through this transition, we are deeply honored to welcome four new office locations and Liberty Hospice House of Greenville into Liberty Home Care and Hospice’s continuum of care and to continue serving our neighbors with the warmth, dedication and clinical excellence they deserve.
"Our focus is simple: take care of patients, support our employees and ensure a smooth transition,” shared Elizabeth Kleber, President of Liberty Home Care and Hospice. “Patients and families should have confidence that the care they depend on will continue without disruption, while team members and referral partners can expect open communication and ongoing support throughout the process. Liberty has been caring for communities across the Carolinas for more than 150 years, and we're honored to build on the exceptional foundation already in place while strengthening these services for the future."
Adding Four New Office Locations & Expanding Regional Access
We are excited to strengthen our presence across eastern North Carolina through the addition of four new office locations and the expansion of services at our Ahoskie office. These locations include:
- Liberty Home Care and Hospice – Ahoskie – Expanded hospice and home health services throughout Hertford County and surrounding communities
- Liberty Home Care and Hospice – Greenville – Providing home health and hospice services to patients and families in Pitt County and neighboring areas
- Liberty Home Care and Hospice – Kenansville – Delivering trusted home health and hospice care across Duplin County and nearby communities
- Liberty Home Care – Washington – Offering comprehensive home health services throughout Beaufort and surrounding counties
- Liberty Home Care – Windsor – Bringing dedicated home health resources and personalized care to Bertie County and neighboring communities
Together, these locations strengthen Liberty's presence across eastern North Carolina and create a more connected network of care that helps patients access the right services at the right time. By expanding local access and enhancing coordination across our service area, we are better positioned to meet the evolving healthcare needs of the communities we serve.

Three Levels of Compassionate Inpatient Care
Liberty Hospice House of Greenville offers three tailored care levels to support patients and families through changing medical needs:
- General Inpatient (GIP) Care: For acute symptom and pain management requiring 24/7 medical supervision until symptoms stabilize
- Respite Care: Short-term stays designed to give caregivers necessary rest while ensuring their loved one receives expert care
- Residential Care: Supportive care for patients needing around-the-clock assistance outside of acute hospital or skilled nursing environments
Care Continuity: Preserving Trusted Relationships and Local Expertise
One of the most important elements of a successful transition is continuity of care. To help ensure stability for patients and families, Liberty Home Care and Hospice is proud to welcome nearly 100 former ECU Health team members to the Liberty family.
"Our priority has been retaining the experienced caregivers and support staff who know these patients, families and communities best,” said Kleber. “We are pleased that nearly 100 ECU Health employees have chosen to continue their careers with Liberty, helping ensure continuity of care and preserving the trusted relationships that are so important in-home health, palliative and hospice care."
Patients, families and referral partners can expect a seamless transition. Existing care plans, provider communications and day-to-day care coordination will remain uninterrupted, allowing patients to continue receiving the support they need. As the integration moves forward, Liberty will invest in operational enhancements designed to strengthen the experience for patients, caregivers and clinical teams across all service lines while maintaining the high standards of care the community has come to expect.
"This acquisition reflects Liberty's longstanding commitment to expand access to high-quality, community-based care," added Kleber. "We are committed to preserving these vital services while investing in their future growth and sustainability."
